A1) Your Application

Automa offers few types of CNC routers that will best suit your application. If you are planning to machine large parts, Portal type milling machine is best for you. It offers table to gantry distance up to 1200mm with 3,4 and 5 axis head configurations. If you are planning to machine doors, panels , MDF , plastics and aluminum, flat table Impera routers will be better suited to your needs.

A2) Choosing Spindle

When choosing a spindle, first consideration should be to choose between automatic(ATC) or manual tool change(MTC) type spindle. If productivity is a primary concern, ATC spindle should be picked. Speed is another important aspect of a spindle. High speeds above 12.000rpm  is best for materials such as aluminum, wood, composite materials, laminates, etc. If you are planning to machine steel, especially stainless steel, thermoplastics or when drilling with HSS drill bits, high speed is not desired to keep a longer tool life.

Another point to consider is power, and the unit is hp or kw to indicate nominal power of the spindle. Maximum diameter of milling cutters and material type are key elements when deciding power required. For machining aluminum, plastic, wood or laminate with cutters up to 5mm the 750w 18.000-24.000 spindle is suitable, cutters up to 16mm - 5.6kW spindle is a good choice.
For milling steel, a more powerful spindle with lower rpm should be selected. Conventional spindles have different construction than router spindles, as they provide more power at lower speeds.

A3) Table Size and Type

Table size and type can be configured according to your requirements. Depending on the size of material, from 1000mm to 3000mm wide, from 2000mm to 6000mm long table can be selected. If you are planning to machine sheet material only, flat vacuum table can be selected, or for mix type of clamping, we also offer a vacuum & T-slot hybrid table.
